Heffry and Jeffry

South of the village, across the bridge in Twins’ Land, live Heffry and Jeffry, twin brothers with a boat, a fishing rod, and a running joke that Jeffry is “the smart one” (Heffry’s words). They don’t sell anything, but they give you your first fishing rod, row Jack to the port and later show you better bait. Nearly every hand-in can go to either brother.

Two Peas in a Pod

Finishing Supply and Demand with Herm launches Two Peas in a Pod, and at the same moment Herm’s own The Quiet Art, which points you to the twins for a rod.

  1. Go over the bridge to Twins’ Land. You find the brothers mid-argument: their boat has sunk, and each blames the other for not rowing. Jeffry declares they’re brothers no longer.
  2. Ask Heffry about the rod. He hasn’t a clue where it is and sends you after Jeffry, who stormed off toward the Hangman’s House.
  3. Find Jeffry. The boat went down with a cargo of pottery intended for Herm. Promise to replace it and he heads home to his brother.
  4. Deliver 6 Clay Plates to either twin. Rewards: the Basic Rod, 5 village reputation, a Town Gratitude and a Story. This also completes the rod part of Herm’s quest.

Clay Plates come off a Potter’s Wheel at 3 per 2 Clay, dug at Riverside. Don’t skip the reputation: combined with Herm’s Planted and Delivered it gives the village reputation 10 required by both Jack’s boat and Good Fellow.

Rowing Jack’s boat

Jack builds his boat for the port on the twins’ beach, and they’re the ones who’ll row it. Ask them once village reputation is 10; it’s only checked, not spent. As soon as the rest of Jack’s list is also done, the three of them set off the next time you sleep. Jack covers the full quest.

Plenty of Fish in the Sea

Win the first battle and the twins are home again, full of a tale about the biggest catfish ever, which nearly landed but for a line that wasn’t strong enough. Give either of them 3 Flax Thread in Plenty of Fish in the Sea and they teach you Fishing IV then and there, including the Pro Rod and Live Bait recipes, along with a Town Gratitude and a Story. Bought from the tree, Fishing IV would cost 150 green.

Election and Press for Cash

For the village’s first election, Januarius nominates the twins (Election Fever). One of them wins, though which is anyone’s guess: Gunter declares Jeffry the winner, Heffry answers “I’m Heffry”, and the village guards are still debating it long afterwards.

Congratulate Heffry later and the twins confess the village coffers are bare, and Januarius wouldn’t let them spend anything even if they weren’t. Could you “craft some money”? They’ll pay with a mystery chest they fished out of the river. That’s Press for Cash:

  1. See Januarius at the tavern; the quest teaches you Printed Money.
  2. Bring him 20 Printed Money. He returns 10 Signed Printed Money, and his shop reaches tier three.
  3. Give the twins the 10 signed notes. You get the Mysterious Chest, containing 20 Golden nuggets, 6 Golden ingots and 8 Gems, plus 3 Town Gratitude.

Notes

  • Either brother works for the pottery, the rowing, the fishing line and the signed money. The one exception is the congratulations that kick off Press for Cash, which only Heffry accepts.
  • No separate reputation. Everything you do for them goes into village reputation, shared with Herm and Januarius.
